wild-west-wind:Back country hot springs and thermal areas in Wyoming. When traveling through backcountry thermal areas, make sure to stay on established trails, and always assume that a hotspring is not just hot, but acidic and boiling. It’s easy to stay safe and enjoy hotspring basins in the backcountry (as long as you can walk, or ride out to them), as long as you make no assumptions about where you are and aren’t going to be safe. Always ask someone familiar with the thermal area you’re traveling to for up-to-date information, and keep someone in the front country appraised of your entire itinerary, and when you expect to get back. Actually that last piece of advice you should follow on any significant backcountry hike. -- source link
