British Pattern 1828 Highland Officer’s Sword The blade dated 1849, with bright tapering blade etched over half its length on each side with thistles, [Scots Guards] regimental badge and motto, and ‘VR’ crowned, the forte stamped in 17th century style 'ANDREA’ and 'FARARA’, the letters between profile king’s head marks, the ricasso on one side etched with donor’s and recipient’s initials above the date, regulation basket-guard, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip, in its brown leather field service scabbard with plated throat mount and chape. 83 cm blade. -- source link
