Some of you know, and many of you won’t, but I was a professional photographer for over 10 years. I was relatively successful at the type of photography I specialized in, but I was forced to quit my main employer almost two years ago (just shy of a month of that). A couple of weeks after that an artery in my neck ruptured and I’ve been completely retired from professional photography since. As my various conditions have progressed since then I’ve been less and less able to hold or use my very heavy and large professional camera. This made my heart so heavy, and along with being unable to make art (my other profession), I’ve felt quite lost and very much unlike myself. Yesterday, I changed that! Using some of the savings from when I was employed I treated myself to this new, much smaller and much, much lighter camera and this beautiful Leica designed lens. I truly hope I’m able to get a little piece of myself back. I don’t know if photography as a ‘hobby’ will really compare to my profession of portraiture, but we’ll see! It’s a beautiful little thing! -- source link
