Sometimes I pause, silently, watching, waiting. I allow my mind to clear and focus clearly on her. I read her movements, her breathing, her expression, the small sounds. I fill my mind with the experience of her - and I know her. I know the place where she is, the emotions that are flowing through her, the state she drifts through, the fears that stir her as she shifts and sighs. I drink her in, not filtering or resisting, but just knowing her as she is - at this time, in this place. There’s an intimacy in the moments of silence in amongst the playing and the fear and the crying. We are profoundly together in those moments. The rest of the world doesn’t matter then - it’s like we are the only two people; the only two people that are or have ever been.
