This article is open-access and only four and a half pages long including images, and I encourage everyone to read it because it’s pretty hilarious, but for those who don’t want to bother I’ll add an additional figure of THIS in use: The abstract asserts that “THIS aids in the reduction of aggressive behaviors by calming the animal.” It doesn’t really get into the specifics of how sticking a plunger over its head calms the turtle, but since this is what they were doing before, I guess anything is an improvement: -- source link
