Tucked within the constellation of Berenice’s Hair lies this dazzling jewel of spiral galaxy. NGC 4826’s bright nucleus is spectacularly contrasted by a dark band of outer dust orbiting in the opposite direction of the galaxy’s inner dust. This possibly indicates a recent galactic merger with another galaxy. Where the opposing dust steams collide, new stars explode into life. : ESA/Hubble & NASA/J.
