Aloe monticolaThis Aloe from the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia is not often seen in cultivation, and this is the first time we have flowered it here at the Ruth Bancroft Garden. It looks very similar to its close relative Aloe harlana, from farther southeast in Ethiopia, but its leaves lack the spots seen in its relative, which also has shorter flowers. The flowers of A. monticola could be red or yellow, but our plant has delighted us with its vivid yellow tubular flowers.-Brian -- source link
