hideback:Art Nouveau Pavilion at the Exposition Universelle of Paris, 1900 Siegfried Bing (aka Samuel Bing) (German, 1838-1905) was a critic and art dealer who imported Japanese art to Paris. Bing’s store at 22 Rue de Provence in Paris, called “L'Art Nouveau,” displayed work by Louis Comfort Tiffany, Emile Gallé, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Henry van de Velde. At the Exposition Universelle, Bing asked Georges de Feure to create a pavilion to advertise his store, with the name and address of the store on the outside. People attending the exposition associated Bing’s pavilion with the art, so the text on these panels became the name for the entire Art Nouveau movement. http://hideback.tumblr.com/post/69168570041/lart-nouveau-bing-paris-22-rue-de-provence -- source link
