Theropod #Dinosaur Fibula Bone undoubtedly of dinosaurian origin, we assess this #dinosaur knee bone
Theropod #Dinosaur Fibula Bone undoubtedly of dinosaurian origin, we assess this #dinosaur knee bone to be the proximal end of the Fibula, the upper part or head of the Fibula bone of a #theropod dinosaur. The Fibula has been restored, cleaned and reaffixed together in a Lab in the UK. On #discovery and excavation the #Fibula did come out of the #fossil bed in pieces as is often the case, now very competently restored to a high standard. We are unsure of the type of dinosaur, however this is very much a theropod type. Theropods being agile and streamlined for maximum speed. Needing further study to conclusively identify the genus of dinosaur. The Fibula bone surface is fine grade and has been treated to stabilise any future deterioration. Once removed from the bedding plane enviroment fossil bones need to be treated in this way to preserve them. The Fibula #bone is very solid and stable, an excellent study specimen and #collection dinosaur fossil bone piece. The complete #fossil_site is associated with #Spinosaurus and #Carcharodontosaurus remains, along with many other theropods of the #Cretaceous making this a fascinating bone from a classic fossil dinosaur collection zone which occasionally bring up remarkable specimens as this one. #geology #geography #raptors #cretaceousperiod #science #carnivores #fossickingabout #diggingdinosaurs #unearththepast -- source link
