Dear avid viewers of the television,Is it necessary to re-imagine bubbly, bright, and wholesome classic stories as dark, violent, and grim? I am not here to say that these shows are such horrible ideas, and I am not here to say that they are the best. I am simply, as are the majority of people who have grown to love these classics, on the fence about the treatment of the story. These stories are very colourful and bright and wholesome. It seems that these TV networks are targeting the audience the have grown up knowing and loving these stories and have thus adjust the characters presence to adhere to the viewers tastes. I cant blame these companies. Who doesn’t want their brand to sell? BUT what if. as a way to relive our childhoods, we would just want these characters to come to life just as they are, nothing dark and dirty about them. I don’t want to see Scarecrow liplocking with Dorothy. I mean… what the hell is that? I mean can we keep at least some of our innocence? The world is already messed up as we know it. Don’t we need something to tell us that somethings are going to stay the same?I am not saying boycott these TV shows for destroying our childhood, I just think that it would be more interesting to see a show where the TV screen bleeds red with Archie’s hair like they did in the 60s when Technicolor first came out; I just slowly am getting tired of the screen showing people bleeding when it is not necessary. As sad as it may seem, we no longer need to look at fiction to have an idea of what war does and/ or what fear of an incoming conflict should feel like. We could simply These show haven’t come out yet so I this is far from a review on how bad or good it is. I am just stating my confusion about the stories treatment. I might even watch it to see how they would respect the character’s individuality. I am keeping an open mind about this.Saoirse -- source link
