I’m all bloody knuckles, longing for homeIf it weren’t for second chances, we’d all be alone It’s @ironqrowweek again, so here’s a contribution for the day 1 prompt ‘second chances’. I was going to save this one for later in the week, for ‘new red/old blue’ (new injury, old grief and all that), but I’m not sure if I’ll have time to draw anything else so you’re getting this one early. And it fits the ‘second chances’ prompt even better, to be honest. Context for how they got here: rather than fighting with Clover, Qrow exited airship left, transformed into a bird, and confronted James in the Vault before he had a chance to shoot Oscar. A fist fight ensued, because we all know James wasn’t going to back down without a fight, but Qrow was able to beat some sense into him. And so some time later we find them here, on the same side again, and supporting each other through a day that’s going to get worse before it gets better.Technically, I drew the pencil sketch for this about six months ago, with no particular prompt in mind other than the fact that I was sad again over the fact that James got so little narrative sympathy or compassion from the other characters over the loss of his arm. But I finished it specifically for Ironqrow Week, and I also decided to experiment with some new pastel markers that I got recently. I really like the effect, and I think it adds to the general impression of a soft moment under harsh hospital lights. -- source link
