colonel-kurtz-official: Corporal G. Romero, United States Army NBC Warfare Division, photographed secretly by an evacuating civilian during the “Trixie Event” of 1973. Casualties among both civilians and the armed forces were staggering, but very little was known regarding the details of the outbreak until the unofficial documentary “The Crazies” was released by American expatriate and conspiracy theorist Thomas Savini in 2010. @the-alt-historian I remember pulling sentry duty by that post office. My detachment was sent in to provide security after the Event until the town could get itself set back up. Command told us there had been a major storm, but there was no flooding, no downed power lines, just a lot of burning houses and bodies in the street. We were rotated out after a week and a half, and at out final formation some spook type told us we had better not talk about anything we saw there or he wouldn’t be responsible for what happened to us. That scared us.Truth be told, I didn’t even know what I had seen there until The Crazies came out. Now it’s all pretty common knowledge, but wow– I never believed until now that the government could do something like that to us. -- source link
