Here’s a small article from the Spokane Daily Chronicle on April 12, 1941, talking about the small mining town of Swastika, New Mexico, removing its name and all visible swastikas from the Raton Hotel and changing its name to The Yucca Hotel. The Yucca still stands today and the swastikas are still visible along the facade. I made a post on the town here, mentioning its transition from Swastika, New Mexico, to New Brilliant, New Mexico. In this same newspaper, the headlines were largely pertaining to the war with with the Nazis. It’s quite sad how someone’s use of a symbol for a very short period of time could have this large of an impact. -- source link
