Surely this is satire? Truly no one is this staggeringly pretentious that they think this is activism? Just in case it’s not, let’s unpack: What you’re doing isn’t activism and it isn’t helping anyone. In fact you’re creating a toxic view of progressivism and social justice which is held up as a valid example as to why genuine, needed progress should be opposed. You’re literally giving fodder to those who would halt progress by being so utterly, unashamedly regressive by making such frankly disgusting suggestions as someone should stop being straight because “we’re beyond that” (here’s a hint, the overwhelming majority of the world is heterosexual, it’s not a fad any more than other orientations are). Don’t tell someone to change their attractions to make yourself feel better, don’t tell someone to change their sexual orientation to make yourself feel better, don’t not tell someone to do something they aren’t comfortable with to make yourself feel better, tell someone to expose more of themselves to make yourself feel better. Others do not owe you a single damn thing, least of all to change their personal preferences and attractions to make you feel more warm and fuzzy. Take a good hard look at yourself, go outside, get some air, see beyond the Tumblr bubble to how the rest of the world is, and grow the hell up. -- source link
