IDF soldiers volunteer in Passover food distributionSoldiers and civilians work together to distribute 2,600 packages of food to those in need in preparation for Passover “The IDF does much more than just fight”In honor of the upcoming holiday of Passover, Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers worked together to distribute food families in need on Monday (March 2) in central Israel.For the 30th time, soldiers and civilians participated in the project and distributed 2,600 packages of food. In the packages were traditional Passover products including wine, soft drinks, matza, vegetables, fruit, and holiday desserts.This year, the staff of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Coordination and Communication School also participated in the charitable event. “I am touched and delighted with the cooperation; the soldiers bring both physical strength and a morale boost to the site,” said organizer of the event Mrs. Carmela Erdani of the Tel Aviv Council.Lt. Col. Sharon Biton, Commander of the Coordination and Communication School, led his soldiers in participating in the charitable event. His soldiers showed great determination to help and contribute.Many private businesses also participated in the event, closing for the day and coming to volunteer alongside the soldiers. “The IDF is more than an army, and it is good to see that it does much more than fighting, but also for education and charity-work,” said Oren Glazer, a civilian who participated in the project. “It is important that the army takes part in activities like these and assists the community.”via: IDF -- source link
