365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…May 31st - Ms. Marvel / Kamala KhanKamala Khan grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of parents who emigrated from Pakistan. Throughout her youth, Kamala loved video games, fantasy fiction and, above all else, superheroes. Her favorite hero by far was Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). A latent Inhuman, Kamala went through Terrigenesis when the Terrigen Cloud passed over the Easter Seaborne. She was bestowed morphogenetic powers, the ability to stretch and reshape her body in almost any way imaginable. Shortly after discovering these new powers, Kamala saw her classmate, Zoe, fall into the bay and was drowning. Kamala used her powers to shape-shift into a facsimile of Captain Marvel and rescued Zoe. Kamala knew she was destined to use these fantastic abilities to become a super hero. At first, she felt compelled to alter her appearance as part of her heroic guise, to assume the look of Carol Danvers. She soon changed her mind, considering that there were so few superheroes who looked like her, who were Muslim. As such, she chose to created a new identity as ‘Ms. Marvel,’ crafting a costume reminiscent of that once worn by Danvers but with its own distinct look emblematic of her family’s culture. As Ms. Marvel, Kamala embarked on numerous adventures. She met Wolverine of The X-Men, encountered Lockjaw who introduced her to the Inhumans of New Attilan, and fulfilled a lifelong dream by joining a new iteration of The Avengers. While Kamala greatly enjoyed being a superhero, she was conflicted over having to maintain a secret identity and how it caused her to have to essentially lie to her parents, friends and family. Her duties as Ms. Marvel often interfered in her responsibilities to her family, to her faith, her pals and her schoolwork. Kamala’s best friend, Bruno, helped her contend with her conflicted feelings on the matter; as did Sheikh Abdullah of The Jersey City Mosque. Ultimately, Kamala’s mother divulged to her that she already knew of Kamala’s double life and that she was proud of her daughter for her selflessness and the good deeds she had done. It proved a tremendous relief for Kamala and helped her feel more assured that she was doing the right thing.Following the second Superhero Civil War, Ms. Marvel became frustrated by the adult heroes and she quit the Avengers, banding together with other younger heroes to form the second version of The Champions. Kamala would go on to have many more adventures both on her own and as a part of The Champions. Actress Iman Vellani portrays Kamala Khan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, debuting in the Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel. The heroine first appeared in the pages of Captain Marvel Vol. 7 #14 (3013). -- source link
