“Climbing Aboard”Blog Recommendation Of The Month June 2022Interview@itsstreetloveWhen and how did you start to become interested in photography? “I came to photography quite late in life. I had always drawn and painted and one of my daughters gave me a pocket camera so I could take reference photos for my paintings. That’s where it all started and I’m so very glad it did!”How would you describe your photography? “It’s mainly street photography although I do less now due to mobility problems…yes I’m getting old! I have a passion for photographing old graveyards, churches and rural landscapes…..so a bit of a mix.”Your blog consists to a large degree of streetphotography. What is it that draws you towards streetphotography? “Street photography embodies many subjects.Sometimes it’s just the everyday life on the street, the little unfolding stories, incidents, fashion, humour and sometimes the sad and tragic. All these things hold a fascination for me……it’s just the humanity really.”What is the big challenge in street photography for you? “For me, one of the biggest challenges in my street photography is overcoming my fear and inhibition. Street photography has helped my confidence greatly.”What is it that you want to tell the viewers with your photographs, specifically with your streetphotography and streetportraits? “It’s really all about capturing aspects of our daily lives……history in fact. What might seem mundane now might be of great interest say in 50-100 years time.”What inspires you?“To be able to evoke an emotion or feeling is what inspires me whether it may be on the streets or in an old churchyard. Sir Don McCullin’s photography inspires me especially his mono landscapes and street photography. He once said "Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures”PWS - Stephi -- source link
