Toronto mayor attempts to block controversial ‘pick-up artist’ Roosh V, who advocates for legalizing rape on private property, from giving speech in the cityToronto Mayor John Tory is pushing for an upcoming lecture by a controversial American “pick-up artist” to be cancelled, saying the man’s views on women amount to hate speech.Tory said statements made by Daryush Valizadeh — who goes by Roosh V.— “have no place in our city.”The attempts to block Valizadeh’s Toronto speech come after his stop in Montreal sparked backlash — including condemnation from the city’s mayor, Denis Coderre. The visit also saw Valizadeh file a police report after a woman doused him in beer. Video of the alleged altercation shows a crowd following him down a street, yelling, “How dare you f—ing come to Montreal,” and “You’re not welcome here.”One of Valizadeh’s most controversial blog posts, published in February, argues that making rape legal in a private home would eliminate any ambiguity surrounding consent by forcing women to fend off unwanted sexual encounters.“I propose that we make the violent taking of a woman not punishable by law when done off public grounds,” he wrote. “Without daddy government to protect her, a girl would absolutely not enter a private room with a man she doesn’t know or trust unless she is absolutely sure she is ready to sleep with him.”PHOTO: Roosh V./YouTube -- source link
