PETA president calls for dentist who killed Cecil the Lion to be ‘extradited, charged and preferably hanged’Animal rights group PETA is calling for a trophy-seeking Minnesota dentist to be “extradited, charged, and preferably hanged” after he paid $50,000 to hunt and kill Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe.Walter Palmer and his hunting guides reportedly tied an animal carcass to the back of their truck and lured Cecil out of Hwange National Park. The lion, beloved by locals and tourists, was found skinned and decapitated.Palmer went into hiding after becoming the subject of death threats and other online attacks. His dental office has been shuttered and temporarily closed and he was not found at his suburban home.
