Could this be anymore True. nahhh I don’t agree with this. That’s assuming the stereotype that Asians/ Latinos are the “good” minorities and that they get more benefits than the black collective. It’s also assuming that there has never been any sort of solidarity between black people and other PoC. Images like this just re-enforces the creation of black people as an Other, a completely isolated group who is different from everyone else in the world. What this image also does is present an idea that black people are incapable of helping one another, while other PoC groups are wholly connected. Is this supposed to be an image representing the U.S? Are we to assume that all Asian-Americans act under one identity? That there’s no divisions between Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Filipino/Indian/etc- American people? Or that Latin@s from Mexico or South America don’t have differences in identity? This is the type of generalization that prevents us from forging relationships in solidarity with other People of Color… nah i dont think its showing what races are the “good minorities” i see it as that white, asian and latinos” are always helping and lifting each other up while us blacks always put each other down, thats how i see this picture I dunno… I feel like that still disregards inner-racial conflicts with other PoC Of course it’s there. But generally speaking, are other races like how the person shows black people to be in this picture? I can’t speak for Latin@s but in a lot of conversations I’ve had, many Americans of Asian descent don’t necessarily pick each other up to ensure success. There’s still some hostility between Japanese-Americans and Korean-Americans, though much less so than in the home countries. India is still considered a non- asian country by many, and there’s even disparity between people who identify more as “American,” than “Asian.” Perhaps within their respective ethnic groups, the image on the left side is more accurate, but there are so many different identities embedded within the Asian- American community, that it’s nearly impossible to say that other races/ ethnicities aren’t like the image on the right. Very true As a latina, I can say this is complete and utter BULLSHIT. There is division within the latino community; racism is rampant, inequality, etc. erases mixed raced black people and black latinos portrays the black commnity as disorganized with no sense of solidarity perpetuates the idea of the “good minority” among latin@s and asians this is so messed up on so many levels Ain’t that the TRUTH! -- source link
