(Sunday, 1. June) I had been looking forward to this particular day for some time. We met up with Azusa, a girl I got to know through a pen pal / language exchange website called Interpals (warning, many/most people seem to use it as a dating website). We’ve only known each other for a few weeks but since she lives in Tokyo, the opportunity to meet each other was really too good to pass up.Together we went to the Yoyogi Park, which is quite popular among the locals, especially on a warm and sunny day such as this one. Swung by Meiji Shrine but our main goal was to find a nice spot in the shade to have a picnic and talk. It was really nice - warm air, people playing badminton/frisbee or dozing in the grass, musicians, everyone was simply enjoying the great day. We had some iced coffee and fruit jelly (another new snack we’ve never had before).Later we walked around, talked a lot (Azusa speaks German so communication was no problem) and then headed out for dinner. Sadly the restaurants we tried were fully booked, but we just continued looking around and ended up in a rather low-cost noodle place. However, that’s not a bad thing. We’ve been wanting to try such a place but never really dated to, being mostly unable to understand the contents of each dish (we’re sort of picky eaters so we often play it safe). But with Azusa by our side, explaining the dishes and ordering them for us, everything went smoothly and we all enjoyed some very tasty noodles. It was a very nice way to spend our last day in Tokyo. I look forward to meeting her again in Japan or when she visits Germany :) -- source link
