“you let yourself be forgiven”; winter term 2017, process photos matls: watercolor paper, watercolors, sand, hand-stitching, metal beadto make this piece, i did a watercolor page including a fair amount of sand after the base coats of color. some of the sand i removed after the paint dried, and some i left in the final piece to create two different kinds of added texture. then i used a bookbinding needle (which are extra long and strong, but have a thinner eye than a tapestry needle) to stitch through the thick watercolor paper.[image: an art journal collage page of a seascape, with pale blue sky and textured dark blue water. handstitching along the horizon line separates the sea and the sky entirely, apart from one space left blurred through the eye of a round metal bead stitched flat. the handstitching follows the text out of frame beyond the edge of the watercolors. the first and second images are process shots — the first is off the watercolor page with sections still wet and lots of sand on top. the second is the page after drying and some sand removal. ] -- source link
