Did a big Christmas at the annual market by the Louvre last night after letting Leonardo do my head in for the second time this year (the first being at the London exhibition at the Queen’s gallery recently). My first time here was Christmas-time, too, back when the Soviet Union was wheezing its last, and I still lived there. There was no Christmas where I’d come from. Seeing this spectacular city bedecked in all its holiday glitz, and witnessing my fist-ever mass in a candle-lit cathedral to the tune of a hundred boys piping some selestial chant in unison, shook me to my hard little commie core; a glimpse of the world’s scale and splendor. I’ve returned many times since and, no matter how Paris changes, I’ll always love her - doubly so at Christmas. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5ZuDpnBmaD/?igshid=c68esvjr9nbz -- source link
