Artemis, 2nd Century AD, Perge, Antalya Archaeological MuseumAugust 13th was when Diana, the Roman equivalent of the Greek goddess Artemis, goddess of the hunt, the moon and childbirth was worshiped. This statue of the hunting Artemis was found in Perge, a city in ancient Pamphylia, near modern-day Antalya, Turkey. With a temple dedicated to and annual celebrations in honor of the goddess, Perge was renowned for its worship of Artemis.
