cupcakedex: I made Alcremie meringues (and a few extra Pokemon)! These are Italian meringues with real strawberries, made with @prettycakemachine‘s fantastic recipe here! I immediately fell in love with Alcremie when it was announced a few weeks ago, and I’d been trying to figure out how to recreate it with food ever since! My first thought was using whipped cream since Amcremie produces cream, but I needed something more stable, especially to get Alcremie’s full height. I had seen so many cute meringue characters like these, so I figured I’d give it a shot! This was my first time making meringues, and I completely underestimated how hard it was! It took me 3 attempts with tons of trial and error (including learning my apartment oven could only make burned meringues :/). I settled on making Alcremie as two pieces (the hat/head/heck, and the body), and joining them by wetting the body slightly so the head would stick. I got the pink stripes by painting vertical lines of food due in my pastry bags, and I added the facial details and strawberry seeds with food-safe markers.I used the opportunity to make a few different meringue Pokemon, and I really like how they all came out! They have a delicious strawberry taste and very light texture. I’ve been converted to a meringue fan! These are SO GOOD. Alcremie is amazing enough but those little Koffings are straight up killing me.These are the definition of persistence paying off honestly -- source link
