Pictured here is a letter from the Jewish Hospital (predecessor of Einstein Medical Center) in Philadelphia which reported on the hospital’s capacity, beds occupied, and daily number of patients for the fiscal year ending on September 30, 1884. This report, along with many other reports sent by hospitals throughout the state of Pennsylvania, was sent in response to a request from M. H. Dickson, the President of the Pennsylvania Board of Public Charities. The purpose of the Pennsylvania Board of Public Charities was to inspect public and private institutions that served the poor and to report the conditions found to the Pennsylvania General Assembly. This letter, and all of the letters in this series, are digitized and available for review in the National Archives Catalog: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/566723.Looking for something to work on?
