barbucomedie: Officers Uniform of the 8th (The King’s Royal Irish) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars) from the British Empire dated around 1844 on display at the National Museum of Ireland-Decorative Arts and History in DublinIn 1818 the 8th Royal Irish, under Colonel of the Regiment Sir Banastre Tarleton, were converted from Light Dragoons to Hussars as many regiments were after the Napoelonic Wars. Hussar uniforms were very popular amongst both men and women but the equipment of the regiments was still the same as they were as Light Dragoons. They were stationed in England during this period but in 1849 they were part of the first royal visit to Dublin for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. In 1854 they were once again sent to war as part of the Light Brigade in the Crimean War.Photographs taken by myself 2017 -- source link
