The Baby Lemat,One of the most interesting and lovable revolvers of the American Civil War was the Lemat revolver, an 8-10 shot .42 caliber revolver with a single shot 20 or 18 gauge shotgun. One of the rarest Lemat pistols is the “Baby Lemat”, a pocket version of the Lemat Revolver that was produced during and after the Civil War. It had the same basic design of the Lemat, except scaled down to a smaller and more manageable size. The barrel was shortened from 6 ¾ inches to 4 ½ inches and the frame was reduced in size significantly. As a result the caliber was also reduced to .32 and the shotgun was reduced to 28 gauge. The result was a smaller, more compact, and lighter Lemat. These pistols are very rare, only 12 are known to exist today. -- source link
