Happy Global Running Day! // So I had a whole post written out about how my long distance running journey started 13 years ago with a half marathon race blah blah blah. The entire story is on my blog What I wanna share instead is what happened to me on this morning’s run. I did an out and back run in my neighborhood and on the way back, my energy started to wane because it was hot (I really need to wake up earlier but that’s another story). Anyway out of nowhere like a mirage, another runner appeared in the distance and started shouting to me. He was going in the opposite direction and as he got closer I heard him say “Come on! You got this! You’re doing great” and extended his hand for a high five It took my brain a minute to comprehend what was happening. A high five?? Physically touching another stranger? That hasn’t happened in 14 months! Prior to the pandemic I was the queen of high fives especially during races. It was my way of showing support and gave me such joy So I extended my hand and gave that runner a high five It was literally a second of human contact but that simple act gave me a boost and put the biggest smile on my face. And that my friends is why I love running and this running community // What’s your favorite thing about running? #globalrunningday https://www.instagram.com/p/CPo28JhnKxK/?utm_medium=tumblr -- source link
