Parenting toddlers during a pandemic. // With all the curveballs that life and motherhood throws at me, this has to be the craziest. Caring for two toddlers around the clock with no childcare, no school, no play dates, no travel, limited activities with a husband working from home is exhausting! I’m supposed to be working too, but with 2 kids under the age of 4, that’s a joke♀️ I’ve tried my best to play teacher and sometimes it works. Other times my kids either check out and run off or they’ll get super clingy and literally fight to sit on my lap They are so young that they require constant supervision and attention. My daughter’s preschool is open and the plan pre-pandemic was to have my youngest enrolled for this past Spring so both of them would’ve been going full time. But once the pandemic hit and now 5 months in with the high death toll and recent outbreaks from schools reopening, I don’t feel comfortable sending either of them. Despite some schools best efforts, I just don’t think they are doing enough. Temperature checks are useless in my opinion since many people are asymptomatic and there’s no way you can expect a child to keep a face mask on properly(my daughter rarely has it on her nose), all day. Heck, you can’t even get adults to do it And children are super spreaders of germs and viruses I swear my daughter got sick with a cold from school almost every week even though her school was big on disinfecting, sterilizing and washing hands. To top it off, I have pandemic insomnia. I go to sleep late around 1/2am and then I get up at 6am/7am sometimes earlier so Mama is tired So where does this leave me? Winging it. Some days we are super productive, other days we are not. I’m not gonna beat myself up. We are all just trying to survive, stay alive and do our best. Picture is from our almost daily walk outside around the neighborhood A reminder that it’s voting season and there’s a state primary today in Massachusetts. You still have a couple hours until the poll closes. Make your voice heard and be sure to vote for people who believe in science How are you Mom’s and Dad’s handling parenting during the pan https://www.instagram.com/p/CEnEUo1HDD9/?igshid=1ol08oi1ctrrn -- source link
