Devil Makes Three + Jonny Fritz Corndawg at Crystal Ballroom Overall Friday night. Sold out. We waited in line forever to get in. Dinner before hand at Irving Street Kitchen. Any fave places you have to eat before shows at Crystal Ballroom? I am still trying to figure out the best spot. Friends couldn’t get in so they hung out at Ringlers. Did you know they broadcast shows there? Recreational drug users had security and crowd control wayyyyyy outnumbered, therefore this was a full on party. Jonny Fritz Corndawg Didn’t get to see too much of this performance because it really did take a long time to get in the doors, get upstairs, get all the way upstairs, get a drink, find my friends, and get to a place where we could see the stage. There were just two guys on stage, one playing a guitar and the other playing the violin. They said they were from Nashville. Pretty sure there was song inspired by cough syrup and fever dreams. Devil Makes Three So far this year the craziest crowd I experienced was YACHT at Mississippi Studios. The crowd at Devil Makes Three makes the YACHT crowd look like amateur hour. Here’s the deal: in the under 21 section of the crowd, the area that is the closest to the stage, there was an imaginary line drawn between about 15 people back from the front of the stage and the rest of the crowd. This imaginary line separated the drunk people from the REALLY effed up people. We made the mistake of dancing across this line to the front and it was crazy. People were falling on the ground, getting trampled over, dancing with that look in their eyes that puking was imminent, and even dreadlocks that belonged to a girl behind us that tickled the top of my friends head….you get the picture. It was mayhem. And then they played a song about whiskey and I thought the Crystal Ballroom was going to cave in. That song was definitely a crowd pleaser. In Conclusion I give this show 15 stars. Five stars for the very enthusiastic crowd. One star for the girl who bought my friend a beer so she could cut in line. One star for the rad girl bass player in Devil Makes Three. Eight stars for a band with no drums getting the crowd to make the Crystal Ballroom floor bounce. xoxo A -- source link
