This is the end. My only friend, the end. Or, maybe it’s just an awesome book display at McNally Jackson, New York, NY. For some reason I just love literature that’s filled with doom and gloom. These books ask questions like: Will the world come to an end? What will happen if it does? In the end, will humans put survival over their own humanity? I haven’t read all these books, but some are right at the top of my list. AndI could ramble on about The Road for hours. Titles pictured here (from left to right, top to bottom): Zone One by Colson Whitehead Star Maker by Olaf Stapledon The Slynx byTatyana Tolstaya The Complete Stories of J.G. Ballard Death from the Skies! by Philip Plait (below) Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood The Road by Cormac McCarthy The Children’s Hospital by Chris Adrian Daughters of the North by Sarah Hall The Chrysalids by John Wyndham Living in the End Times by Slavoj Zizek Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut The Pesthouse by Jim Crace -- source link
