Shabti of Nubian Queen Maleteral. Shabtis were workers provided to assist the deceased with chores in their next life. In contrast with Egyptians, people of Nubia (Sudan) only placed shabtis in graves for a relatively brief period in history, 750-250 B.C. Excavated by George Reisner for the MFA-Harvard University joint expedition beginning in 1916.I’m super excited to be showing my work at the Harvard Art Museums this week. Each day I will share one of the five typologies that will be on display in the Lightbox gallery. If you are in the Boston/Cambridge area, please stop by this Wednesday, April 20th! I promise you seeing these images on an 80″ wide screen will be amazing. And I will be giving a gallery talk 12:30-1pm.http://www.harvardartmuseums.org/visit/calendar/lightbox-gallery-talk-the-typology -- source link
