Firefighters are some badass mutha fuckas firefighters are incredibly under appreciated, this is sadly the first appreciation post to them and we need more of these, they literally walk through hell to pick up people and pull them out, they are all Castiels if all civilians are Deans, and they save animals, treating all like humans, i have never heard of a firefighter that has chosen not to save someone for there race or sex or sexuality or anything, a human is a human and an animal is an animal, i love these people and they don’t deserve to be ignored as much as they are Appreciate the Firemen! What really gets me is that these men and women actually risk dying in some of the worst ways possible: suffocating and burning to death, to do what they do. They are the bravest people ever and yeah sadly under appreciated. It’s crazy what firefighters go through, this guy I’m talking to is a firefighter and he’s seen kids die, heroin overdoses, and he’s delivered two babies. He’s only 21, I have no idea how he manages to stay positive and sane after all that. I use to think all firefighters had to do what put out fires, but it’s so much more than that. There’s a whole other side to firefighter’s jobs that no one hears about. We should celebrate them more than anything. They save people and animals alike. Honestly I don’t see why we celebrate cops more than firemen I have ALWAYS appreciated firefighters a lot more than cops. See that emblem? It’s on my grandfather’s grave. He was a firefighter for 53 years. Growing up I remember about 10 Christmases in which I’d be woken up by my mother to tell me that a family lost their everything in a fire and would we be ok with giving some of our gifts to the children. And we would…. without even pausing. The above? Is my brother who was a volunteer ff for 15 years and is now a Paid FF. He is also an EMT So yeah….. Firefighters need more appreciation I never really think about what my dad does at work—it’s just routine to me. But when I actually take the time to consider what he and his crew face on a daily basis, it’s overwhelming. He would never ever consider himself a hero—he’s just a man who loves his job. But he’s my hero, for who he is both on & off the clock. I’m an R.O.P. student who volunteers at the fire department for a few hours everyday. Running medical calls with them and seeing how they give 100% every call is amazing. They’ll go without sleep or a meal because someone else is in need. They all have calls they can’t talk about without tearing up, and they care so much that it hurts when I hear someone bad mouth firefighters. People do not understand that they give up family time and holidays and more so that when someone calls in need, they can be there in minuets to help. Firefighters, both wild land and structural, as well as all EMS services including the EMTs and Paramedics deserve more credit and our thanks. They do a job most of us would break under. -- source link
