bantarleton: qsy-complains-a-lot: bantarleton: Fucking hell. Would anyone like to practice listing everything wrong with this documentary’s uniforms (also so I don’t have to)? Well for one thing the lack of belt and the colonial equivalent of a ten-gallon hat, but isn’t it more of an overall shittiness and lack of details ? Pretty much. Let’s get nerdy: 1) I hate the hats with a passion. They’re ridiculously big, a weird shape and the tape is questionable. 2) Crossbelts - almost definitely Napoleonic-issue. The right-shoulder to left-hip belt is meant to be the waist/bayonet belt that was worn over the shoulder for comfort, but it’s clearly just a later full crossbelt. 3) Cartridge boxes - a mix of issues (that giant one at the bottom is probably Seven Years War period). Should really have regimental crests on them but I can cut that much slack. 4) Buttons on the coat turnbacks should be towards the outer edges, not the middle, and they don’t look like they have any lace. 5) Coats are a terrible fit. 6) Breeches are also a terrible fit and also wrong (should have a flap at the front). 8) The officer on the right randomly has a different facing colour from everyone else. Caveated - this is me being a nitpicking bastard of course. The effect is heightened though because I just saw a mini-doc on the RevWar that did very well with the uniforms, so I can’t even just go “ah well it’s the History Channel y’know.” Mostly I just hate the hats though. -- source link
