A mass funeral for dozens of Titanic victims buring at sea, onboard the Mackay Bennett. The bodies buried at sea were mostly found with no means of identification or were third-class passengers who most likely wouldnt have been able to afford a funeral.Records show that 166 out of 306 bodies retrieved by the Mackay Bennett were buried at sea, however no images had ever been seen by the general public until now. The photograph is thought to be taken on 24th April 1912, 9 days after the Titanic sank. And was kept by Westy Legate, the fourth officer on the Mackay Bennett, whose family have owned it since. The photograph is now to go under the hammer and it is estimated to sell for around £5000. -- source link
