One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to raise such beautiful species and watching them through their whole lifecycle. Scroll through this post to view some of the special moments I’ve captured while raising Luna Moths. . New shadow frame and glass dome insect displays are available in shop now. . The American Luna Moth has no mouth and does not eat or drink. Only living for one week as an adult, their only purpose is to mate and produce the next generation. There has been concern that light pollution from man-made sources, like street lights, may deter silk moths from mating. Luna moths, once very common, are now being threatened in some areas due to habitat loss. . A week might seem like a very short time for us. But, it is a lifetime for these moths. They put all of their energy into transforming from a caterpillar to a moth, flying to find a mate and then producing the next generation! They live a very productive and prosperous adult life. .
