geek-royalty: Some pics from Much Ado About Nothing at the Pop Up Globe yesterday. Great day to be out and it was such a fun show, I loved it Pic #2 - Beatrice and Benedick were the cutest Pic #3 - Claudio was pretty hot btw –Brief Thoughts– It was really interesting to listen to the play with everyone’s various accents, Brit, American, New Zealander, made the play feel contemporary and fresh. There were Maori ceremonial dances too, which was a surprise and a delight to watch The show was so cheeky and funny, lots of fingers up and rude puns (hearing con-stable in a Kiwi accent *giggles*),‘alcohol’ randomly being spilt drunkenly onto the audience, some slapstick. They were keen to interact with the crowd, getting us to chant and sing and clap along, something I can’t say I’m used to seeing in Shakespearean plays! There was also a helicopter that kept flying noisily over us, so it turned into a bit of a running gag in the show. One of the guys quipped “That Leonardo Da Vinci is pretty busy today” And a nice little political same sex marriage ref with the policemen in pic #5 pairing off together with the line “say ‘yes’” I was talking with a lady who sat nearby. She’d happened to catch a couple of shows at the last minute, and her daughter had been six times. Like me, she’d regretted she didn’t catch more shows, with relatively cheap tickets compared to the usual big plays we get here. Hopefully they’ll come back again soon -- source link
