He was killed by Sacramento Police officers on March 18, 2018 in his own backyard when they shot him over 20 times claiming they thought he had a gun, however it was revealed he only had a cell phone. On March 2, 2019, the Sacramento County district attorney announced that the Sacramento police officers who shot and killed Clark would not be charged.
