myshelftoblame: January TBR Shortlist 1. Niccolò Rising, Dorothy Dunnett Dorothy Dunnett, my body is ready. 2. The Blind Assassin, Margaret Atwood I’m going to try to read-along with @adultbooklr this year, when the choices appeal to me, and Margaret Atwood is definitely appealing. 3. Reading Lolita in Tehran, Azar Nafisi This is AdultBooklr’s nonfiction choice for January. It’s something I’ve been meaning to read for years, and now seems like a good opportunity to pick it up. 4. The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturnes, Neil Gaiman (Author), Sam Keith, Mike Dringenberg (Illustrators) I got the first five volumes for Christmas! Looking forward to learning why this series is so beloved. 5. Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue: The Untold History of English, John McWhorter I doubt there will be any new information in this book for me, given that I studied the history of English intensely in undergrad. But because that was/is my area, it feels a little unacceptable that I haven’t read this yet. I also want to know to what extent I can recommend this book to friends. -- source link
