Fylgja A Fylgja (follower) is born when a child is born, it then connects itself to its human and travels with its human throughout its life. Fylgjur are soul like entities that usually show themselves in an animal representation of its human. For example, if the human is of noble birth, one might find themselves with a wolf or a bear. Someone that is greedy or untidy may find themselves with a pig. The Fylgja is not a “Spirit Guide” that you call upon when you need help, it is apart of you and instead of trying to be like it, the Fylgja adapts to the reality of its human. If you die, your Fylgja dies. If you get hurt, your Fylgja gets hurt. There are many different types of Fylgiur, there are personal ones which belong to one person, and there are also ones that belong to a whole group. Usually, when a Fylgja belongs to a group or a family, they will put this animal on flags that represent their clan. This Fylgja will also travel through the human generations and work with the new line of ancestry. In the practice Seidr the Volva may have the head of that animal as their headdress. In the Saga of the Volsungs, we see Sigmund place a wolf pelt over himself and head into the forest to become one with the wolf, his wolf the Fylgja. Many followers have asked me how they can see their Fylgja, they can only be seen in dream state or by someone that is blessed with clear seeing. Throughout my path I have noticed that if you are drawn to a animal, that animal is usually your Fylgja. #norsepagan #fylgja #spiritanimal #witchesofinstagram #seidr https://www.instagram.com/p/CChXh0ungAe/?igshid=wu2981vqoiri -- source link
