golbatsforequality:Sensory accessibility is as important as physical accessibility. If it is too loud and too many smells where I am supposed to eat, sometimes I can’t eat. On a bad day, the best outcome is stress and spacing out due to inability to handle the stimuli; the worst outcome is uncontrollable gagging on, like, vanilla ice cream (and forget anything with actual nutritional value). I often have to eat unbalanced meals or even skip meals because I can’t think in there and can’t handle anything with proper nutrition due to all the other things going on around me. Simply because the designer of my school’s dining hall didn’t give any thought to the acoustics. Supposedly, Erdman Dining Hall is an accessible building. For me, it’s not.–Golbat -- source link
