I’m still alive, I promise! I haven’t been posting much (though I have been lurking and liking/commenting on posts) for a bit – but things have continued to chug along beneath the surface, and I have an exciting announcement that should have gone out Sunday but, well, ADHD, so Anyway: GRAYSCALE HAS A PUBLISHING DATE!! Grayscale will be hitting the world on December 6th, so just under TWO WEEKS TIME – and it’s a DECADE to a day after I finished the first draft!! I started Grayscale on November 1st, 2010, as my #NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) attempt that year – and when November 30th hit, I just kept writing until it was done. It’s had a *few* changes since then. For example, Holly was originally Gary. I almost scrapped it at one point, and turned it into a visual novel instead (which, tbh, I’m still interested in, if I happen to know any interested artists). I rewrote the first chapter to set it in a half-dozen parts of Toronto (the original spot is the one that stuck, though). But the core of the story is unchanged; Holly and Jesse are mostly grown, but it’s still a coming-of-age story. The story isn’t about Jesse being gay, but his relationship is explicit and explored. They’re both gigantic dorks (and nothing would have changed that). So… I’m excited to share this with the world. It’ll be available as widely as I possibly can get it; if you work at your local library or bookstore – or know someone who does – please PLEASE message me, so I can get in touch with them about the best way to get my book into their hands! I’m going to be reaching out far and wide, but most of the marketing is going to be self-driven, so even if you think “eh, he probably already thought of that”, reach out – it’s entirely possible I haven’t! (I also have a press release prepared by the wonderful @jgurniak that I can share freely!) Please, please share this everywhere! It’s my first novel, and I want to see it fly off the shelves.
