aprons-with-bows: renewedinfaith: I’d love to know, do you have a favorite prayer? I’ve learned to recognize the rhythm of my family’s prayers. My mother starts hers with, “Father in Heaven, we are grateful …” She always thanks him for the most fundamental of things - that we exist, that we are breathing, that He loves us, that we are healthy and together. She lays hands on me. I have watched her heal people. My father starts his with, “Lord …” He prays for wisdom, guidance, for His hand to be upon his family. His hands are always clasped together and he sits forward in his chair, assuming a position of humility and reception. And my sister starts hers with, “Dear God …” She thanks God for the little things - for food, new clothes, good books, movie night, time together. She takes the richness of life and puts the glory back on Him. Me? I’m not sure. I’m not very good at prayer. My mind moves too fast to form coherent sentences, to stay on ideas. I usually just mutter some words, string some ideas together, and hope that the Lord understands my heart. I wonder what my family might see in me. God sees you trying. He knows what difficulties each person faces. Over time you will have your personal rhythm as well. As you say, there’s a chance your family sees one from you already!Always beautiful to hear about people praying with their families. Thank you for sharing! -- source link
