Another Woodcut Wednesday is upon is! This lovely example comes from Johannes Wolff’s Lectionum memorabilium et reconditarum centenarii XVI, printed in 1600 in Lauingen, and you can see some other woodcuts from it here. While our Latin is nowhere near good enough to decipher to accompanying text, we’re going to take a fairly educated guess and say that this is a commentary on corruption and hypocrisy within the church - in this case, it looks like the fool has led the congregation of geese to right to the fox! -- source link
