Hello everyone!So, we have a bit of a lengthy update to give this time, please bear with us. First of all: We still do not have our books in hand. As we’ve said before, we chose a new printer for this project and we have had a less than satisfactory experience working with them. They have been difficult to communicate with, slow to provide/update us with our proofs, and reluctant to give us concrete timelines when moving forward. They finally provided us with our most recent proof today, and we had a long conversation with them and impressed upon them that we would be withdrawing our business, requesting a refund, and supplying information about our experience to the BBB if they could not provide us with a concrete production timeline. The printer informed us that they had been undergoing a merger, which supposedly led to these delays, and that they would be able to okay our corrected files and print and ship the zines to us within 10-14 business days. We intend to submit our corrections by this Thursday, 08/15, meaning that according to their timeline production will begin on Monday, 08/19 and the zines will be complete and on their way to us by September 5th. If this is not the case, we will be pulling production, filing for a refund, and printing the zines elsewhere. If our printer misses their production timeline and we choose to move the zine, we will be sending out PDF copies on September 5th to everyone who purchased and posting another update at that time. We are currently quoting other printers with whom we have worked before or who have been recommended to us so that we are ready for any eventuality. Secondly: there have been concerns among both our contributors and some of our customers about our level of communication during this delay. These concerns are absolutely rightful, as we have struggled to convey what’s been happening with our printer and been lax in answering questions we did not feel we had enough information to respond to. Because of our failure to communicate, two of our contributing artists have chosen to withdraw from the project. Their withdraw is completely understandable, and we wish them the best of luck with their own projects current and future. They have both informed us that they will be providing alternative free merchandise for customers to replace their zine pieces. Lastly, we’d like to encourage anyone with any concerns to please reach out to us!
