10 Favorite Dean/Castiel Moments (in chronological order)Nine: 5x18 Point of No ReturnI really loved this scene because I think it’s the first time we REALLY see this side of Cas when it comes to Dean, this aggressive, assertive, and downright SCARY part of him that Dean knows is there, but took for granted. The part of him that believes in Dean and has faith in him is thrown out the window for a moment and replaced with so much anger and disappointment that he can’t even control himself and he has to beat some sense into Dean. It says something about Castiel’s feelings and expectations of Dean that from this point on until 5x21, that Cas has lost his faith and trust in Dean to do the right thing. He thought higher of him than someone who would break down and give in to what Zachariah was pressuring him to do, to say yes to Michael. He believed Dean would overcome it and would stay grounded in his decision to find any other way to keep it from coming to that. But then he found him there, getting ready to throw the towel in and he lost it completely. In a way, it’s like a big WAKE UP, STUPID. I GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU AND I’M NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS. He cares too much about Dean to let him take back what he said and throw away everything they’ve worked for. Also, this is also yet another reference to all that Cas has sacrificed for Dean. That he has lost everything, that he has rebelled and killed his own family for Dean because he wanted to see him persevere and become stronger. And in the end, as much as Castiel looks like he wants to just keep beating the shit out of Dean because he’s so upset, he doesn’t. He puts him to sleep and he stops because he knows that damaging him further will not get his point across, but also, I like to think, because deep inside he couldn’t stand to hurt Dean even more than he already had. He’d felt he’d had enough. -- source link
