About our Saturday trip to Temnikov with things we collected/bought for Ukraine [DNR] refugees. We brought 4 cars full of things—clothes, shoes, toys and stationery for kids, cleaning supplies, bodycare items, dog stuff, etc. Most of the stuff was put into huge bags, each labelled with family name. I’m glad we did it because as it appears they don’t have good communication between them.We spent about 5 hours there and I had a chance to talk to a number of people. Everyone’s story is different, but most go like this—bombings, weeks in a cold basement, then a train to Russia. Children are a delight! The joy I saw in them at the sight of all the bicycles and scooters was enough to justify the whole effort for me. We also found a small entertainment park with inflatable slide, trampoline and some games and had all children go play there. Money well spent. :)The housing those people are put in is the saddest place ever. It’s a building from late 70s or early 80s and it’s never seen a renovation. It looks like a museum of sad Soviet life. -- source link
