hey y’all!! So in between studying I finally got around to finishing ACOFAS - I’m gonna try not to post too many spoilers in my review but if you’re really trying to avoid, it’d probably be best to not read under the cut! so I think one of the reasons that it took me so long to get through was because the plot didn’t really pick up until about a third of the way through - which is fine, it’s a novella! It’s going to take a little while to get back into the patterns of that world. I think that’s something that’s important to remember about this story in general, I’ve seen lots of complaints about there not being a solid plot or anything really happening but that’s kinda the point isn’t it? It’s supposed to be just a peek into what’s going on, to be that bridge between books. Even though it read almost like fan fiction, it was fun and cute and (for the most part) warm and fuzzy. That being said, I do still have my issues with it, and a lot of those are similar to my issues with ACOWAR. I think the characterization felt off, at multiple points, some lines felt redundant or out of place and the pacing was occasionally either too fast or too slow. I honestly think that ACOMAF will always be my favorite, it’s by far the best written out of all the books but I’m still enjoying being in prythian - so overall, I’d say around a 6.75/10. Like I said at the beginning, I know this was a divisive book, so let me know what you thought about it down below!! -- source link
