Summers are a really magical time for our Museum Apprentices; teen staff that train during the whole school year to become museum educators. They meet with curators and education staff to learn about our own collections and pedagogical practices as well as creating their own lesson plans for tours which they lead for hundreds of campers every July and August. Our registration is currently open for you to bring your day camp groups for an engaging journey through art from around the world. Campers will investigate artworks old and new, hear legends and stories, explore art materials, and move their bodies. Our Museum Apprentices have generated six different guided tours for your campers ages four to thirteen:On the Wild Side: Explore how artists express the importance of animals and the natural world. How’d They Make That?!: Get into an artist’s process and how artists use their surroundings as inspiration for their artwork.Zap to the Past: Become a time traveler and explore history’s cycles as seen in art throughout the ages. The Pharaoh Wears Prada: Get a glimpse into the daily fashion of ancient Egyptians and see art thousands of years old.Unwrapping Ancient Egypt: Delve into art and burial practices in ancient Egypt and unearth the meaning of the afterlife.Shades of Change:: Witness how art can be used to create social change and fight for justice.Click here to book a guided tour! Spots are limited, so don’t delay!Posted by Ximena Izquierdo Ugaz -- source link
